Information and Application Form for prospective Members

What is the Society? An organisation, founded in 1958, which caters for the interests of label (mostly beer labels) collectors but which also embraces collectors of other brewery related items and those interested in researching brewery history.

Who Can Join the Society? Anyone interested in label collecting or other related pursuits, either in the United Kingdom or overseas, who pays the annual subscription and who agrees to abide by the Constitution of the Society. (Copies of which are available on request from the Chairman/Secretary). 

Benefits of Membership:

• An Illustrated Newsletter: Produced every two months with features on old labels, brewery history, details of new label issues & brews and developments in the brewing industry. Members' advertising, label sales and offers and new members' addresses are also included.

• Society Meetings: These are held quarterly in March, June (the AGM), September and early December, usually at a Public House in London, although we aim to hold at least one meeting per year outside the Capital. The Society also encourages regional meetings of members.

• Label of the Year Competition: This gives members a further opportunity to meet, usually in October, when the Society presents awards to breweries judged to have produced the best labels in the previous year. The proceeds of all sales at these meetings are donated to a charity.

• Label Sales: The Society Sales Officer can assist members in obtaining labels via advertisements in the newsletter or occasionally through Society auctions. The proceeds of these sales help maintain Society funds.

• Advisory Services: The Secretary can assist members with information on old labels and breweries while current and obsolete brewery lists and old newsletters are available for purchase from the appropriate Society officer. All letters should be accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope.

Organisation of the Society:

The work of the Society is undertaken by a Committee of eight members elected at the Annual General Meeting. This consists of the following positions, Chairman/Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Label Sales Officer, Newsletter Editor, Brewery Liaison Officer, Meetings Secretary and Publication Sales Officer. 
Subscriptions: Subscriptions for members anywhere in Europe aged over 16 and under 65 are currently £12. Junior U.K. members and pensioners pay £6. Members living outside Europe pay £13. All subscriptions fall due for renewal on 1st April each year with the exception of new members joining between January and March of the same year. All remittances must be made in Sterling, unless otherwise agreed in advance with the Membership Secretary.
