Hi there, we are now the lucky custodians of Red Lion House, Blean, formally Red Lion Inn which was George beer and rigdens early last century, we have an old photo of what we assume we’re the landlords but no actual date, currently restoring the whole house with the main bar area left to do and want to return it do something like its pub days, looking for any information or pictures that would help us do it justice. Do you have any info or evidence of what it was once like or anybody we could contact mabey? Cheers for you help, Liam

Hi Liam. Do you still have the photo of the Red Lion and the licensees? Perhaps you could send me a scan to rmkcanterbury@hotmail.com please? I’ve just written a short article about two brothers (William and Henry Packman) who enjoyed their last night of freedom at the Red Lion, in November 1830. They were arrested the next day, convicted of arson and hanged the following month. Happy to send you a copy of my monograph. Thanks. Rory
