Two very similar Special Family Ale labels from Ward of Foxearth, which appears to have experienced a change of county. This could cause a serious problem for those of us who display their labels by county.

The reference to Sudbury on the first label is probably because postal addresses were supposed to include the post town, which might well be in a different county. I assume that Sudbury was the post town for Foxearth at the time the label was issued, though I have a directory from around the turn of the century or perhaps a little earlier which shows Long Melford as the post town for Foxearth. Notwithstanding that, the important point is that Foxearth is in Essex, and it always has been.

I seem to remember reading that Ward’s of Foxearth operated two breweries at one point in their history , I’ll try and dig up a bit more info on this one and post an update as soon as possible,
Cheers
