A departure for us – Miles Jenner – An Entertaining Host

Now we do not normally advertise events outside of our sphere of interest. However this is a worthy cause.

Anyone who knows Miles Jenner, will appreciate that he is without doubt an entertaining host. Miles has an alter ego who entertains.

We have been aware of this for some time & his entertaining has received well deserved critical acclaim. So you now have  the chance to experience this first hand.

So below is the text of an email from Miles together with a poster for the event. If you are able to support this please do. If not share on your social media.

Please forgive this unsolicited approach which, for once, has nothing to do with brewing, hops or the drinks industry.

Everyone needs a distraction from the pressures of running a brewery and mine has always been arts based. I am currently touring a new musical play which we premiered in pub theatre at Eastbourne last year. We then took it to the Brighton Fringe as well as venues Nottingham, South London and Sussex. This year we recently played at the Bury St Edmunds Fringe and are poised to do our next performance in Kent at Benenden on Sunday 12th May at 3.30. A poster image is attached.

I was hoping that you might be able to spread the word to friends and colleagues in Kent via whatever social media tools are available to you. We are performing at the Village Hall, alongside the Bull Inn – where some fine beers are available, including Larkins and our own.

It is a light hearted show that tells the life story of the music hall comedian Billy Merson (1881-1947) and the text is interspersed with sixteen of his comic songs. Music Halls originated in Public Houses, so there is a connection (!)

Full details can be found on our website www.alphonso.info which includes a short promotional video as well as booking links.

The show lasts for two hours and five minutes, including a twenty minute interval, and we have chosen a performance time that makes travelling easier. There are excellent car parks adjoining. Tickets are £10 (Concessions £8).

Interval catering has been organised by, and is in aid of, Hospice in the Weald and I am desperately trying to ensure that we have a worthwhile audience for them.

South East Today have asked to do a piece on my double life, highlighting Sunday’s performance, which is due to go out on Friday. Hopefully, this will generate a bit of interest but if a major story looms it could come to nothing and I am very much in nothing ventured nothing gained mode!

Obviously, it would be great if any of you were free and felt sufficiently inspired to come along but I appreciate it is short notice and not to everyone’s taste. I would be so grateful if you could spread the word, regardless.

With many thanks and best wishes,

I went to the Bury St Edmunds performance and it was excellent. If you can then make sure you see it! Well done Miles!
