Advent Calendar Day 11

A trio of Winter Ales today. If we are lucky you will spot a less than obvious link between the second and third labels apart from the possibility there is a hundred years between them, some things never change and rightly so.pitfield brampton carsonwimter

  • Fascinated by beer labels

You do ask some tough questions. Surely this has something to do with the Winter Bock, a style of beer which has never caught on in this country. Too sweet, lightly hopped. usually around 6% alcohol. The style originated in Germany and ‘Die Bock’ is a Billy Goat, which explains why a goat appears on many labels from around the world, but very few here in the UK. The Brampton label has one!.
Culmbacher was another German Style dark beer, so there is the link although I haven’t a clue what Culmbacher Style actually is. Perhaps you guys do.
