I remember Old John as a child in the 50s . We were allowed to sup a little of it at Christmas time. A superb beer. Is there something like this in existence today? I would love to know.

    Hi John.
Interesting question about the Old John beer and one that puzzles beer appreciators all the time. But how does one campare a beer produced long ago and long since gone to one produced today? For me, one of my first experiences with real ale was drinking Fullers’ ESB in the mid-1980’s. My memories of how that beer tasted is nothing like what I experience when I drink Fullers’ ESB in 2015! So what has changed? Is it the beer? My memory? My taste buds? Or all of the above???!!!
    Cheers
    Dale
