I am guessing that Dudgeon and Co, who still brew today under the Belhaven banner, were describing their Oat Stout as Famed and not the Oats that were part of the brew.

I don’t mind whether it is the Oats or the Stout that is famed.
It is a famously attractive label full stop!.
