The Company began brewing in 1909, having previously traded as a Wine & Spirits merchant. It traded as B. Cunningham Ltd until 1969 when the name was changed to Cunningham Brothers Ltd. A merger with Howcroft’s Brewery of Bolton was followed quickly by liquidation due to lack of money.
