David John & Co Ltd

The Company was registered in 1888 to combine the business of the Pentre Brewery of David John and the Mardy Brewery of John Davies. The Mardy Brewery was closed soon after. This was a small concern and maintained a serene existence until it was acquired by Webbs of Aberbeeg in 1946, when 26 pubs were owned. Brewing must have continued for a while after takeover because the Pentre Brewery was used to brew Webbs beers.
