Founded in St Helens in 1762 and another brewery established in Warrington in 1787. A private company was registered in October 1880, which then completed a public listing in 1952. The St Helen’s brewery was closed in April 1975 and the Warrington brewery in 1990. The company then became a pub operating concern only.
